2026 Fantasy Football Rookie Superflex Outlooks

Makai Lemon, Philadelphia Eagles

When the Philadelphia Eagles traded up to select USC wide receiver Makai Lemon with the 20th pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, it was clear they were planning for life without three-time Pro Bowler A.J. Brown. With the trade of Brown to New England becoming official on Monday, the spotlight on Lemon grows notably brighter. In his four seasons with the Eagles, Brown never earned less than a 27.3% target share, twice topping the 30% mark, and his absence creates the opportunity for Lemon to immediately claim a meaningful role in Philadelphia's new-look offense.

After spending the past two seasons in Green Bay, Sean Mannion steps in as the Eagles' fifth offensive coordinator in as many seasons, creating a fresh slate for every pass catcher on the roster. While DeVonta Smith has become the focal point of Philadelphia's passing offense in a small sample of games played without Brown over the past two seasons, he's done so without another target-earner of Lemon's caliber on the roster.

While some early-season growing pains are to be expected, Lemon has both the talent and opportunity to quickly establish himself as a legitimate 1B in Philadelphia, and he is RotoBaller's rookie WR3 and dynasty WR21.

Demond Claiborne, Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings running back Demond Claiborne was a 6th-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, a historically difficult spot from which to find fantasy success. On the rare occasions when a back with such late draft capital has made a meaningful fantasy impact, the setting is often a backfield without a clear leader. With neither Aaron Jones nor Jordan Mason handling more than 39% of the team's carries or reaching 760 yards on the ground in 2025, the landing spot in Minnesota certainly qualifies as such.

Claiborne is only 5'10" and 195 pounds, so he is unlikely to ever find an every-down role in the NFL, but he offers an element of speed unique to the Vikings' running back room. If he can beat out 2023 undrafted free agent Xavier Scott, he could carve out a role in a three-man rotation in an offense projected to get back on track after the worst showing of the Kevin O'Connell era. At RotoBaller's rookie WR8, Claiborne is at least worth a dart throw in the closing rounds of 2026 rookie drafts.

Kaytron Allen, Washington Commanders

With rookie running back Kaytron Allen lasting all the way to pick number 187 of the 2026 NFL Draft before the Washington Commanders selected him in the sixth round, he landed in as ideal a situation as can be found for a late-Day 3 pick. No running back on the roster handled more than 37% of their team's carries last season, with the Commanders' leading rusher, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, himself a seventh-round pick in 2025.

No stranger to working in a committee, Allen set the all-time Penn State rushing record while playing all four of his collegiate seasons alongside 2026 fifth-round pick Nicholas Singleton. In Washington, he will be battling veteran Jeremy McNichols for the third spot in a rotation alongside Croskey-Merritt and free agent signee Rachaad White, and with White potentially making McNichols' pass-catching role redundant, the edge could go to the rookie.

At RotoBaller's dynasty RB40, Allen is not a flashy pick in the middle rounds of rookie-only drafts, but he has one of the clearer paths to immediate fantasy relevance, which is not a luxury to be overlooked in a generally unexciting draft class.

Omar Cooper Jr., New York Jets

When the New York Jets traded back into the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft to select Indiana's Omar Cooper Jr. with the 30th overall pick, they landed a versatile wide receiver with some of the best tackle-breaking ability in the class. While Cooper no doubt has the talents to make an immediate impact on an NFL field, dynasty managers spending a later first-round rookie pick on him may need to exercise patience to see that impact consistently translates to fantasy success.

While New York's offense is trending in the right direction, the operation will be run in 2026 by a soon-to-be-35-year-old Geno Smith, whose 34.1 QBR in 2025 ranked 31st out of all qualified starting quarterbacks. After missing 10 games with a knee sprain, Garrett Wilson and his career 9.1 targets per game are expected back and healthy, and with the Jets spending the 16th pick of the draft on tight end Kenyon Sadiq, Cooper faces direct competition for the short-area, middle-of-the-field looks that made him so valuable to Indiana's National Title-winning offense.

Cooper has fantasy-friendly tools and could eventually be used as the Jets' version of a Deebo Samuel Sr. or Rashee Rice, but as RotoBaller's rookie WR5, he projects as more of a long-term investment than the players going ahead of him in rookie drafts.
