Dallas Stars defenseman Lian Bichsel (lower body) needs surgery and will miss 6-8 weeks. The 21-year-old suffered a lower-body injury during Sunday's victory over the Ottawa Senators. In 26 appearances this season, Bichsel has logged three points (one goal, two assists), nine shots, 24 blocks, 85 hits, and 22 penalty minutes. Vladislav Kolyachonok will replace Bichsel in the Stars defense on Tuesday against the New York Rangers. While Kolyachonok has landed on the score sheet twice in his last three outings, he isn't expected to make a significant impact.--Taavi Pailk
