Week 4 Fantasy Football Tight End Outlooks
Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride isn't leaving the elite tier of his position any time soon. We have plenty of evidence that Kyler Murray loves throwing the ball his way. In fact, he's currently on pace to see 136 targets, which would be the second-most of his career after getting 147 last year.
Now, he sets his sights on the Seattle Seahawks in the Thursday Night game, who are currently ranked 31st against opposing tight ends. RotoBaller's projections have McBride sitting at 17.3 fantasy points in PPR formats by grabbing around seven receptions for about 70 yards. Once again, this goes without saying, that McBride should be in all lineups regardless of format.
David Njoku, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (knee) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday, according to Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegram. The team did not practice on Wednesday, so participation for all players is an estimate. Njoku played 76% of the snaps on Sunday against the Packers and hauled in five of his seven targets for 40 yards. It's been a slower start to the season for the 29-year-old tight end, as he has failed to exceed 40 yards in any game so far.
Last season, he was under 40 yards only four times in 11 games. Rookie Harold Fannin Jr. has stepped in and earned some volume, and now the offense has shifted to be a bit more run-heavy with rookie Quinshon Judkins. Njoku is still on the fringe TE1 line for Week 4 against Detroit, assuming he is good to suit up.
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. (toe) was listed as a limited participant in the first practice of the week on Wednesday, according to Tori McElhaney of AtlantaFalcons.com. Pitts popped up on last week's injury report on Thursday and was limited as well, but he returned to a full practice on Friday and then caught four of six targets for 39 yards in the Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The 24-year-old should return to a full practice by the end of this week and be cleared of an injury designation for the Week 4 tilt against the Washington Commanders this weekend.
Pitts has yet to score a touchdown through three weeks in 2025, but he's been more involved in the passing attack and has reeled in 15 of his 19 targets for 135 yards. Against Washington's suspect secondary, Pitts could break out as the Falcons' offense looks to bounce back after being shut out last week by the Carolina Panthers.
Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers (knee) was a full participant in the first practice of Week 4 on Wednesday, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN. It's the first time that Bowers has practiced in full since suffering a knee injury in the Week 1 win over the New England Patriots. Although Bowers didn't miss a game with his knee injury, he's gone for only 38 receiving yards in back-to-back games on nine total catches after posting 103 yards on five receptions in the season opener.
The second-year tight end also has yet to find the end zone in 2025. The fact that the 22-year-old is back to practicing in full is a good sign, and hopefully, it means he'll be back to TE1 fantasy numbers in an upcoming good matchup in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears' suspect pass defense. It's also worth noting that Michael Mayer remains in the league's concussion protocol and could sit out this Sunday after injuring his head in Week 3.
AJ Barner, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks tight end AJ Barner is not a fantasy option in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals due to his lack of usage. With Seattle's offense running through its wide receiver trio and running back duo, Barner has only earned six targets on the season. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's scheme is generally very tight-end friendly.
However, Barner and fellow tight end Elijah Arroyo (groin) have been left out of the fantasy fun. Barner is not even worth keeping an eye on his usage unless one of Seattle's top wide receivers goes down. You can leave Barner alone on the waiver wire until his circumstances change dramatically.
Orande Gadsden, Los Angeles Chargers
According to Daniel Popper of The Athletic, Los Angeles Chargers rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden has earned more playing time. Head coach Jim Harbaugh said, "He's going to be in more," when asked about his strong showing in Week 3. During their victory over the Denver Broncos, the fifth-round rookie was given a lead role in the offensive game plan. The right end caught five of his own targets for 46 yards. This was a significant step forward as Gadsden was a healthy scratch in each of the first two games.
Fantasy managers in deeper formats should keep a close eye on his status as he could be making a strong case to take over TE1 duties in Los Angeles. Currently, veterans Tyler Conklin and Will Dissly have combined for just four receptions through the opening month.
