ANALYSIS: When Xavier Worthy suffered a dislocated shoulder on the opening drive of their Week 1 match-up against the Los Angeles Chargers, wide receiver Marquise Brown emerged as Patrick Mahomes' go-to option. In this contest, Brown led the way, seeing a hefty 16 targets. He was able to bring in 10 of them for 99 yards.
While Worthy appears to have avoided a significant injury, he is not expected to play in Week 2, which will leave Brown as the clear WR1 facing the Eagles.
Last season, Brown missed time with a shoulder injury, which prevented him from appearing in only two regular-season games. During this brief stint, Brown tallied 91 yards and nice receptions.
Even though Brown's long-term outlook this season is not overly high with Rashee Rice set to come back in Week 7 and Worthy potentially eyeing a return in the coming weeks, he still stands as a strong WR3 heading into Week 2.
Last week, the Eagles allowed CeeDee Lamb to tally 110 yards on 13 targets. Expect another productive day for Brown based on projected volume.
