Formula 1 heads to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. Max Verstappen is on the pole this weekend after a stellar qualifying time. Can he parlay that into a win to get him back in the championship hunt, or will the McLaren duo get past him and continue to pull away from the field?
Last weekend in Austria, Lando Norris drove to victory over teammate Oscar Piastri. With Verstappen getting a DNF, it was a huge weekend for the two McLaren drivers as they try to finish one-two in the final standings.

Captain: Pierre Gasly ($8.1K)
Starts Eighth
Franco Colapinto spun in qualifying and will start 20th, putting teammate Pierre Gasly in great shape to earn extra DFS points for finishing as the top Alpine driver. That's one reason he's my recommended captain this week, as barring a mechanical issue or crash, I don't see how Gasly doesn't earn those points.

Gasly has had a bit of a disappointing season, and his performance hasn't always matched up with his qualifying speed, but at the Spanish Grand Prix, he started and finished eighth, and then in Canada, he went +5 spots from start to finish.
Austria was a disappointment last weekend as he started 10th and dropped three spots, but there have been a few encouraging signs lately for Gasly.
Constructor: Red Bull ($9.0K)
We've gone four races in a row without double points from Red Bull, but with Yuki Tsunoda starting 11th on Sunday, we finally have a good shot to break that streak.
Max Verstappen is on the pole and has a great opportunity to win on Sunday. If Tsunoda can move up a few spots by the end of the day, Red Bull will have a strong DFS day as your constructor play.
(Maybe not as strong as McLaren will have, but phew — that McLaren price is getting to be really rough to fit into a lineup. $16.0k for McLaren, a full $6.0K more than any other constructor.)
Oscar Piastri ($12.8K)
Starts Second
Fun fact in the battle between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri: the one who started higher has finished higher in four consecutive races.
Piastri starts second this weekend while Norris starts third, putting Piastri on track for a better finish if that pattern holds.
Now, I'm not saying McLaren has its drivers refusing to race each other or anything like that. If one is a good bit faster and is behind the other, a pass will happen. But the two drivers are really close to each other talent-wise, so having a slight advantage at the jump goes a long way.
Another thing going in Piastri's favor is that Norris won last week, which means that this weekend, he's the most expensive of the two McLaren drivers. You can save a little bit of salary space by going with the points leader, Piastri.
Max Verstappen ($11.4K)
Starts First
Max Verstappen was the fastest driver in Q1. He slipped a bit in Q2, but stormed back in Q3 to land on the pole. It helped right a weird weekend for the defending champion, who was only 10th in FP1 before going fifth in FP2 and third in FP3. He keeps getting faster.

Verstappen has started on the front row five times this season. In four of those races, he finished either first or second. Miami was the only race that didn't hold, partly because of a poorly-timed Virtual Safety Car.
If the speed Verstappen showed on Saturday holds, he'll be tough to beat on Sunday, especially considering 10 of the last 11 races here have been won by a driver starting on the front row, including Verstappen from pole in 2023.
Carlos Sainz Jr. ($5.0K)
Starts Ninth
The 2022 winner of this race, Carlos Sainz Jr., will start ninth, while teammate Alexander Albon fires off 13th. That gives Sainz a nice early edge in the race for "defeated teammate" points.
Sainz looks to rebound from a last-place finish last weekend. His brakes caught fire before the race even began, leaving the Spanish driver unable to even start the race.
Before that, though, Sainz had finished in the points in five out of the past six races. Sure, he doesn't have the speed that he had with Ferrari in past seasons, but if he had just a bit more luck on his side, he'd be much closer to Albon in points. (Albon is eighth and Sainz is only 14th, but Sainz really isn't that far off, with an average finish of 12.7 to Albon's 10.6.)
Gabriel Bortoleto ($3.6K)
Starts 16th
Gabriel Bortoleto's price rose $600 after a strong run last weekend. He was unable to follow that up with a strong qualifying result this week, but he starts three spots ahead of teammate Nico Hulkenberg and should have a good shot at the "defeated teammate" points, even if scoring in the actual points is pretty much out of the picture.

Bortoleto has only scored points once in his F1 career, but he's running well enough lately. He's finished either where he started or better in four consecutive races, a good sign that he's figuring out this Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber machine.

How Does Formula 1 Fantasy Work?
Here's how the scoring and format work for F1 DFS on DraftKings. You'll pick five drivers and a constructor. One of those drivers will be your captain, who earns you 1.5 times the points but also costs 1.5 times as much as they usually cost. For the constructor, you're choosing one of the F1 teams.
So here's how the scoring works. Your driver only gets points if they finish in the top 10. Here's a chart for how that breaks down:

In addition, the driver with the fastest lap of the race gets three points. You get 0.1 points per lap led, five points for beating your teammate, one point for being classified at the finish, and there are points for place differential.
Finish three spots higher than your grid position, and you will get two points. Finish five better, and you get three points. Finish 10 positions better to get five points. You also lose points for a negative place differential, starting at three spots.
The constructor points work the same way, with some added points if both cars do well. It's confusing, but for Formula 1 DFS to work, it probably had to be confusing, considering the huge gaps in speed between various teams and the small driver pool.
