Andrew Painter Tosses Five One-Hit Frames
Andrew Painter tossed five shutout frames in his start against Triple-A Worcester on Sunday. In this outing, Painter allowed just one hit and two walks. He struck out six batters. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the budding ace as he allowed 10 runs and 14 hits over his last nine innings of work. During these nine innings, Painter allowed four walks and struck out nine hitters. Prior to that minor skid, Painter held a 2.65 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP during his first four starts with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Painter began the season with Low-A and held a 3.97 ERA with a stellar 0.97 WHIP through a brief 11 1/3 inning stint. Given his strong bounce back, Painter could be in the mix to reach the majors in the coming weeks. As a result, he is a solid stash candidate in all standard leagues.
