MLB.com's Michael Avallone writes that Seattle Mariners shortstop/second baseman Cole Young will likely begin the 2025 season at Triple-A Tacoma. The team's first-round pick in 2022 took a step back from his breakout season in 2023 but did spend the entire season at Double-A Arkansas at just 21 years old in 2024. He slashed .271/.369/.390 with nine home runs, 57 RBI, 23 stolen bases and 67 runs in 124 games played. MLB Pipeline's No. 49-ranked prospect is still very young, and the Mariners give him some more time to develop on the farm. Jonathan Mayo gives him a 20 percent chance to break camp with the big-league squad out of spring training this year. Young profiles to be an average/on-base middle-infielder at the next level over a power performer. He made contact 81.4% of the time but only posted a 22.0% hard-hit rate last year.--Keith Hernandez
