What Time is Monday Night Football? Week 2 NFL Schedule

Jalen Hurts - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, Draft Sleepers

How can I watch Week 2's Monday Night Football game? Bruce runs down how to watch and what to look out for.

The NFL has had an incredible introductory week, filled with exciting highs and demoralizing lows depending on the team you're rooting for. Week 2 is sure to have similar excitement, and the week's final game is one of the more compelling ones on the schedule.

Monday Night Football will be an intriguing matchup between a team that has been one of the best teams in the last few years in the Philadelphia Eagles, playing host to a team with playoff aspirations in the Atlanta Falcons.

This piece will break down Week 2's Monday Night Football game, highlighting the teams, start times, and key players to watch.

Who is Playing on Monday Night Football?

Week 2 will end with two NFC bird teams. The 0-1 Falcons will try and make it to .500 as they fly to Philly to take on the 1-0 Eagles.

The Eagles played a Friday night game in Brazil to start their season and ended up with a victory over the Green Bay Packers in a sloppy affair from both sides. Philadelphia will hope that the turnovers they had can be reduced while the production with Saquon Barkley on the ground can be sustained.

As for the Falcons, they are coming off of a disappointing loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, one that surprisingly saw their underpowered defense outperform the talent on their offense side of the ball. Atlanta disappointed with only ten points against a stingy Steelers defense and will hope to have some answers to a very susceptible Eagles defense.

When and How Can I Watch The Game?

Week 2's Monday Night Football game is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. Eastern on Monday night. How you watch it will depend on how you typically consume television.

You can watch the season's first Monday night game on ESPN if you have cable or satellite. If you are partial to Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, and Bill Belichick (as I am), tune in to ESPN2 to hear their input on the game live. If you are without cable or satellite, the game will also be broadcast on the ESPN+ app. The rate is starting at $10.99/month.

Additionally, if you consume live television through other streaming sites (such as Hulu+, YouTubeTV, or Sling), ESPN and ESPN2 are usually streamable. The costs of those apps vary.

Who is Going to Win?

The Eagles are the home team and are the heavy favorite, as the betting markets have them as a 6.5-point favorite over the Falcons.

For the Falcons to keep the game close and competitive, they have to take advantage of a weak and inefficient Eagles defense. ESPN's Football Power Index ranked Philadelphia's defense as 23rd in efficiency against the Packers, the second-lowest mark out of any team that won their first game.

The Eagles defense allowed 163 rushing yards on a bonkers 7.8 yards per carry to the Packers. If the Falcons want a chance, expect insane athlete Bijan Robinson to get fed early and often on the ground.

As for the Eagles, their advantage also comes from dominating the time of possession and limiting the amount of time the Falcons' offense has on the field. Giving their defense a chance to rest while putting in efficient offensive drives will put Atlanta in an unenviable position.

It is clear that quarterback Kirk Cousins isn't fully healthy from his Achilles injury last season -- making Atlanta one-dimensional and having the Philadelphia pass rush, headlined by Jalen Carter, overwhelm the Falcons' offensive line could make for a long day for the Dirty Birds.
