Tyler Conklin could be a good tight end bench stash pickup in deeper leagues. Target him as a free agent add off waivers in deep leagues for Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Bench Stash in Very Deep Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 8% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: New York Jets tight end Tyler Conklin was expected to receive a boost after getting Aaron Rodgers back from injury to throw passes to him, but if he does make an impact this season, managers will have to wait.
Conklin was only targeted one time by Rodgers in Monday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers, and he failed to haul in that pass. He recorded just one catch (from backup QB Tyrod Taylor in garbage time) for six yards.
Unfortunately for managers, the tight end position feels like a barren wasteland to start the season. Travis Kelce recorded just three catches for 34 yards and no TDs. Sam LaPorta had four catches for 45 yards, Mark Andrews had two for 14 yards and Dalton Kincaid a mere 1 for 11 yards. Tight end feels like it's the worst it's ever been.
Conklin made his impact on Monday's game as a blocker, something fantasy managers don't want to hear.
Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson are the story of the drive but man that OL and Tyler Conklin were cooking blocking on that drive

While Conklin could produce down the road, he seems to be in a role not favorable for fantasy. However, the lack of any kind of production at the position in week 1 means he's not the worst player to take a chance on.
Stashing a few tight ends on the bench might not be a bad strategy this year, and if you try it out, Conklin has potential.
