Fantasy Baseball Catcher Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 23 (2024)

Alejandro Kirk, Fantasy Baseball Catcher

Dawn Tepper's fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for catchers in Week 23 of the 2024 MLB season. Consider adding and streaming these free-agent hitters.

Welcome, RotoBallers, to my catchers' fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for Week 23 of the 2024 MLB season. This week, we'll examine catchers such as Adrian Del Castillo, Alejandro Kirk, and Freddy Fermin

These catchers have been hitting the ball well lately and are great pickups as we look ahead to next week. Let's dive in and look at why fantasy managers should pick up Del Castillo, Kirk, and Fermin this weekend.

All three catchers are rostered in under 40% of Yahoo! leagues. If you have any other waiver-wire questions about the catcher position, don't hesitate to get in touch with me on X (@winesportstalk).

Fantasy Baseball Catcher Waiver Wire Adds

Adrian Del Castillo, Arizona Diamondbacks (8% Rostered)

Del Castillo is staying on the list this week and is still only 8% rostered (slightly up from 4% last week). His clutch performance in his hometown of Miami snapped the Diamondbacks' three-game losing streak.

In the last five days, Del Castillo has a batting average of .417 with five hits, a home run, six RBI, and two runs scored in three games this week. In 11 games this season, ADC is slashing .341/.400/.610 and was part of the D-backs' beatdown of the Red Sox last night.

Alejandro Kirk, Toronto Blue Jays (5% Rostered)

I don't know how Kirk is still only 5% rostered. I wrote about him two weeks ago and he continues to be a strong bat for the Blue Jays, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in yesterday's win over the Halos.

Since taking over behind the plate after Danny Jansen was traded to Boston, Kirk is slashing .297/.382/.422, including two of his of his four home runs this season and 11 of 35 RBI.

Kirk has consistently put the ball in play, and while he has a 90 wRC+ for the season, he is slashing .368/.431/.799 with a 129 wRC+ in August.

Freddy Fermin, Kansas City Royals (8% Rostered)

29-year-old Fermin has been consistently starting at DH and behind the plate, maintaining a regular presence in Kansas City's lineup. He’s been swinging the bat exceptionally well in the second half, hitting .338 (23-for-68) in 17 games since the All-Star break.

Fermin has played in 32 of the Royals' 59 games, has a .297 batting average with a .347 OBP, and has thrown out five of the eight opponents who have decided to foolishly run on him.

This sneaky roster add is just 8% rostered, despite slashing .304/.353/.427 this season.
