Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard has signed a two-year extension with the team. The deal is worth $7.8 million, giving Bouchard a $3.9 million cap hit for the next couple of seasons. The 23-year-old was one of the few remaining restricted free agents without a contract for the upcoming NHL campaign. Bouchard is coming off a mixed season. He struggled offensively for most of 2022-23 but sparked into life near the end of the regular season and ended up leading all d-men with 17 points in the playoffs. Bouchard greatly benefitted from the team's decision to trade away Tyson Barrie. In 82 regular-season outings, Bouchard posted 40 points (eight goals, 32 assists), with nearly half (19) coming in 21 games after the trade.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
