Rangers Plan To Start Nathan Eovaldi On Sunday
Nathan Eovaldi to return to the rotation and start on Sunday in the series finale against the San Diego Padres, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Eovaldi recently experienced a drop in velocity, and the Rangers decided to skip his turn in the rotation earlier this week as a result. The 33-year-old veteran hurler earned his second career All-Star nod in 2023 and has been excellent for the Rangers this year with an 11-3 record, league-best 2.69 ERA (3.25 FIP), 1.01 WHIP, 34 walks and 111 strikeouts in 123 2/3 innings over his 19 starts. Eovaldi will be well-rested this weekend and will be going up against a pretty lackluster Padres offense that ranks 14 out of 15 teams in the National League in batting average.
