Free-agent relief pitcher Jesse Chavez has agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. Chavez spent the 2021 season with the Atlanta Braves, where he went 3-2 with a 2.14 ERA and 1.01 WHIP while striking out 36 and walking 11 in 30 appearances (four starts) over 33 2/3 innings pitched. The 38-year-old veteran has been around for 14 major league seasons and owns a career 4.44 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 966 2/3 innings. Chavez pitched for the Cubs back in 2018 and had a nice 1.15 ERA and four saves in 39 innings pitched. He'll represent veteran bullpen depth but has no fantasy appeal.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
