2026 Fantasy Football Outlooks, News

Rome Odunze, Chicago Bears

After an up-and-down rookie campaign, Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze came out with a blazing start to the 2025 season, scoring five touchdowns in his first four games and going into the Bears' early bye week as the WR3 in Half-PPR formats.

Coming out of the bye, the 2024 ninth overall pick started showing up on the injury report with foot and ankle issues, and while he continued to play through the nagging injuries, his production dropped, and he was eventually shut down for the final five games after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his foot. Despite playing in only 12 games, Odunze's 87 targets led a talented group of Chicago pass catchers, and his six receiving touchdowns tied for the team lead.

By year's end, five different Chicago players saw at least 60 targets, but with DJ Moore and Olamide Zaccheaus no longer on the team, Ben Johnson's passing offense is expected to funnel through Odunze, Luther Burden III, and Colston Loveland in 2026. With the thinning of the receiver room likely to produce an uptick in targets, and quarterback Caleb Williams expected to take a step forward in his second season with Johnson, Odunze has a chance to produce WR1 numbers from the mid-round range of drafts.

In 2025, only Michael Penix Jr. and J.J. McCarthy had a higher off-target throw percentage than Williams, and no receiver was impacted more than Odunze. Williams completed at least 60% of his passes in only six games, and on the four such occurrences when Odunze was active, the second-year receiver averaged 18.4 fantasy points per game. When the connection is working, Odunze is capable of winning weeks, and given his spot within RotoBaller's top-36 WRs, that upside can still be had for a bargain in 2026.

Bhayshul Tuten, Jacksonville Jaguars

Sports Illustrated's John Shipley writes that Jacksonville Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten continues to shine during offseason workouts at mandatory minicamp, with Chris Rodriguez Jr. still out after recently having a procedure on his foot. The team still isn't in pads, but Tuten "left the defense firmly in his dust on several big runs in team drills," and he "continues to look like one of the most explosive elements of the entire offense."

Rodriguez is expected to be back for the start of training camp in late July, but Tuten has put himself clearly in the pole position for primary lead-back duties in Duval as he heads into his second season in the NFL. The 23-year-old former fourth-rounder out of Virginia Tech carried the ball 83 times for 307 yards and five touchdowns, and added 10 receptions for 79 yards and two more TDs as a pass-catcher in 15 regular-season games in his rookie campaign as a change-of-pace option behind lead back Travis Etienne Jr.

Etienne is now in New Orleans, though, giving Tuten obvious breakout potential as an explosive home run threat in Jacksonville's emerging offense under head coach Liam Coen. C-Rod will be a threat to vulture TDs at the goal line, but right now, Tuten has clear RB2 upside, and he's ranked near RotoBaller's top-50 group for 2026.

Cam Skattebo, New York Giants

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo (ankle) thinks he will be ready to go in Week 1 of the 2026 regular season after last year's gruesome season-ending ankle injury in his rookie campaign, according to Bobby Kownack of NFL.com.

"It ain't gonna change who I am," Skattebo said. "I had an injury, you know, it is what it is. I've still got plenty of football left, plenty of life left, I'm not going to let this little ankle thing bother me. I'm going to get back [to] running people over like you see on the videos. It's going to be normal Cam Skattebo from here on out."

After the Giants selected him in the fourth round in 2025, the Arizona State product had 617 total yards and seven touchdowns before injuring his ankle in Week 8. The 24-year-old took part in 11-on-11 drills during mandatory minicamp last week and should do more in training camp this summer. The Giants should rely more heavily on the running back in new head coach John Harbaugh's first year in the Big Apple, which makes Skattebo an intriguing RB2 target in single-year fantasy leagues in 2026 with the upside for more.

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Across 16 games in 2025, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert completed 66.4% of his pass attempts for 3,727 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. The 28-year-old also rushed for a career-high 498 yards and two scores, which helped him finish as the fantasy QB10 on a per-game basis.

Entering 2026, Herbert could be in a position to put together his best fantasy season to date. The Chargers have a new play-caller in place in Mike McDaniel, who should help open up the offense. Los Angeles will also have its star tackle duo of Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt back in action after the two combined to play just six games in 2025.

Finally, Herbert has a strong core of young playmakers around him in wide receivers Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston, tight end Oronde Gadsden II, and running back Omarion Hampton. If the Chargers offense takes a step forward in its first season under McDaniel and Herbert maintains his increased rushing aggression from a season ago, he could be undervalued by current redraft ADP as the ninth quarterback off the board.
