Will Reed Play This Season?
Jayden Reed spent most of the preseason in a walking boot, and it was eventually revealed that he had suffered a Jones fracture in his left foot. Most athletes usually undergo surgery when diagnosed with such an injury.

Had Reed opted to go under the knife, he would have missed 6-14 weeks, though most players typically return after eight weeks. However, Reed stated that he has "no interest" in getting surgery and plans to play through the injury this season.
Fortunately for Reed and the Packers, this injury can be healed without surgery with proper care. But it's still a situation to monitor heading into the season.
Will Jayden Reed Play In Week 1?
Reed finally returned to practice on Thursday and participated once again on Friday. According to Packers reporter Zach Jacobson, HC Matt LaFleur will "absolutely" give Reed the chance to make himself available against the Lions.
Matt LaFleur said that the Packers will "absolutely" give Jayden Reed and Nate Hobbs the chance to play in Sunday's opener against the Lions.

Should Reed play, he will go up against a Lions team that allowed 37.8 PPR points to fantasy wideouts last season, the second-highest mark in the NFL. Last season, Reed had 113-yard and a 0-yard outings against Detroit.
All signs point to Reed being a game-time decision, and he's likely good to go, considering how he insisted against getting surgery so he could avoid missing game time.
Jayden Reed Fantasy Football Outlook
Since entering the league in 2023, only 14 other WRs have recorded more standard fantasy points than Jayden Reed (295.2). He is also 15th in receiving touchdowns during that span (14), and with Christian Watson's injury, Reed is the Packers' most proven wideout this season.

However, it's not hard to see why he decided against getting surgery. He's eligible for an extension after this season, and the Packers' WR room is extremely competitive and is filled with talented youngsters who can't wait to take Reed's place. There's a reason why the saying "out of sight, out of mind" is so popular.
So that's why Reed wants to play, he wants to be the star WR on a team that can potentially win the Super Bowl. But the injury risk is a bit too high. If he gets hurt, not only will he be out for most (or maybe all) of this year, but he will also struggle to return to his best in the following seasons.
