The Miami Dolphins entered the 2023 season with high expectations. Everyone gave them a pass in 2022 after Tua Tagovailoa struggled to stay healthy. However, many called the Dolphins Super Bowl contenders after their impressive Week 1 victory.
Miami won five of their first six games, with the lone loss coming to the Buffalo Bills. While the team had control of the AFC East division title most of the year, many doubted them. The Dolphins had only one victory over a winning team in 2023, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 22-20 in Week 16.
After losing a critical Week 18 matchup to Buffalo, Miami slipped from the No. 2 seed to the No. 6 seed in the AFC playoffs. Their season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs, losing 26-7 to the Kansas City Chiefs.

What Draft Picks Do The Miami Dolphins Own?
Following their first-round playoff exit and 11-6 regular season record, the Dolphins will have the 21st overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Miami has six picks this year’s draft after having only four last year.
However, they won’t have their third-round pick. The NFL confiscated the selection as part of the team’s punishment for illegal tampering with Tom Brady and Sean Payton during the 2022 offseason. Meanwhile, their fourth-round selection belongs to the Denver Broncos as part of the Bradley Chubb trade.
The Dolphins have most of their own draft picks, including their first and second round selections. Miami also picked up a sixth-round pick from the Chicago Bears.
Who Could The Miami Dolphins Draft In The First Round?
Unfortunately, Miami’s defense struggled in 2023 because of several injuries to key players. Hopefully, they can stay healthy next year. However, the Dolphins need to improve their offensive line.
Starting center Connor Williams suffered a torn ACL during the season and is a free agent in March. Miami could draft Jackson Powers-Johnson with their first-round pick. The former Oregon center had an impressive week at the Senior Bowl and has worked his way into first-round conversation.
The Dolphins could have four potential new starting offensive linemen in 2024. Williams joins Isaiah Wynn and Robert Hunt as free agents. Meanwhile, left tackle Terron Armstead is considering retirement this offseason.
