When will Mike Evans return and play? Will Mike Evans be back again this season? Read the latest Mike Evans injury updates and return date for Week 7 (2025).
Mike Evans has had a legendary career. From the great stats to winning a championship, he has a gold jacket waiting for him once he hangs up his boots. However, he still has one thing left to prove.
Last year, Evans tied Jerry Rice's record of the most consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons in the final play of the season. With Rice's blessing, Evans wants to prove he can break this record, but he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 3 and has not returned to the field since.
When will Evans return to action, and what is his fantasy football outlook when he does? Let's dive in.

Mike Evans Injury Update
Evans started the season off averaging 46.7 yards per game, eerily similar to his start in 2024 prior to his hamstring injury that season (47.9 yards per game). Before 2024, Evans had missed five games due to hamstring issues, so hamstring injuries are nothing new to him.

Evans missed three games in 2024 due to his injury, and although his 2025 hamstring injury was initially described as being less severe than the previous year, he has still missed three games of action, putting his 1,000-yard streak in jeopardy.
Per Bucs reporter Evan Closky, HC Todd Bowles is hoping for Evans to practice this week. With Chris Godwin and Emeka Egbuka out injured, Evans' return will be a huge addition for the Bucs.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler also reported that Evans will "give it a go" in practice with hopes of playing in Week 7.
Mike Evans Fantasy Football Outlook
After his slow start to 2024 before his hamstring injury, Evans returned to the field in style. He put up 669 yards and five touchdowns in seven games (95.6 yards per game), which helped him tie Rice's record.

Indeed, Evans averaged 20.7 PPR points per game during that span, finishing as the WR2 from Week 12 onwards. He provided league-winning value during the fantasy playoffs and is hoping to replicate that success once again in 2025.
As stated earlier, the Buccaneers are missing Godwin and Egbuka, and also their RB1, Bucky Irving. Baker Mayfield will have to target Evans plenty of times for the Bucs to continue their winning ways and stay on top of the NFC.
Throughout his career, Evans has averaged 71.2 yards per game in the first four games of the season. He usually turns it up a notch as the season progresses, with that number jumping to 76.4 yards per game in the final 12-13 games of the year.
Though he played second-fiddle to Egbuka at the start of the season, Evans should be viewed as a must-start fantasy option, at least until the rookie returns.
