BALLER MOVE: Avoid In All Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB6
ANALYSIS: The Indianapolis Colts are preparing for another week without star running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb). He's expected to return later this season, but until then, Zack Moss will operate as the leader in Indianapolis' backfield.
Although Moss will get the bulk of the carries on Saturday versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, backup Trey Sermon should also get a few opportunities, just like he did in Week 14. Against the Bengals last Sunday, Sermon rushed three times for 13 yards, ranking as the overall RB58 in fantasy football.
Similar production can be expected from Sermon this week. All 11 of his carries this season have come in games that Taylor missed. Furthermore, while matchup isn't directly correlated to number of snaps (especially for a backup), it helps that Pittsburgh has allowed 23.1 carries and 99.1 rushing yards per game to opposing running backs.
With that said, Sermon doesn't have much appeal in Week 15, the first week of the fantasy playoffs. He won't register quite enough volume to justify starting him in fantasy leagues — not even deeper formats. In fact, although he did rush three times last week, he was actually the Colts' No. 3 running back, getting out-snapped by both Moss and Tyler Goodson. Furthermore, Sermon hasn't caught a pass this season while Goodson has three catches over his last two games.
As they occupy depth roles, Sermon and Goodson both remain off the fantasy radar. Moss is the only Colts running back worth starting in fantasy football.
