NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/30/22

When there is a small slate like this, contest selection drives lineup-making decisions. If playing a small tournament, especially at the lower dollar amounts, you can build a lineup and not worry as much about ownership. If playing a large tournament, it is likely you would have to play somewhat suboptimally to give yourself a better chance at being different and winning.

The two games that stand out to me the most are Toronto vs. San Jose and Edmonton @ Chicago. How one handles those games and how those games play out tonight will have a large impact on the slate.

You can check out the latest odds here: Vegas Odds for the Day

As always, ensure the goalie in your lineup is confirmed before the lineup lock! With several teams on a back-to-back, it is a safe assumption to go with the goalie that did not start the previous night. Everyone else you have to double-check! There is nothing worse than having a great lineup but taking a zero at goalie. This has happened to me before and it stinks!

NHL DFS Goalies

Matt Murray DK $8.5K || FD $7.0K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Matt Murray is the most expensive goalie on Draftkings but is too cheap on FanDuel. Overall, Toronto is a -320 favorite and the Sharks have the lowest implied total tonight with 2.4 goals. Murray has played solid with a 5-1-1 record, a 2.44 GAA, and a .927 SV%.

Edmonton is playing the first game of a back-to-back with the second game happening tomorrow. My feeling is that Stuart Skinner would get the start tonight with Campbell tomorrow, but with how they have been playing, Skinner might get the start tomorrow with Campbell tonight.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Skinner (DK $8.3K || FD $7.9K), Shesterkin (DK $7.8K || FD $8.3K)

NHL DFS Centers

Connor McDavid -DK $9.4K || FD $10.4K

Opponent - Chicago Blackhawks

Connor McDavid is on the slate and even at his price tag, he is on average going more than 2X his salary in fantasy points. Peter Mrazek is the likely starter for Chicago with a 4.27 GAA and .878 SV%. McDavid has 17 goals and 22 assists in 22 games played. That's 1.77 points per game! He also averages 3.95 shots on goal per game.

John Tavares-DK $6.1K|| FD $8.7K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

John Tavares often gets overlooked for Auston Matthews, but pricing-wise, Tavares is the better deal on DraftKings. On FanDuel, he is a bit pricey for his production. Anyhow, the Maple Leafs are implied for 4.3 goals and Tavares averages 1.08 points per game with 3.29 shots on goal per game as he centers the second line but is also on the top Power Play.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Trocheck (DK $5.2K || FD $6.4K), Couture (DK $5.6K || FD $6.9K), Chytil (DK $3.3K || FD $4.4K)

NHL DFS Wings

Leon Draisaitl- DK $8.2K

Opponent - Chicago Blackhawks

With Draisaitl now skating alongside McDavid on that top line, these two together make for an interesting, yet expensive pairing. He averages 1.5 points per game and 3.3 shots on goal per game. Edmonton is in a great spot here and Draisaitl is a guy that will skate with McDavid not only on the Power Play but in even-strength situations, too.

Dominik Kubalik- DK $6.2K || FD $7.7K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

Dominik Kubalik averages 1.05 points per game with 2.9 shots on goal per game. Detroit is implied for 3.5 goals tonight, facing Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, a goalie that has a 4.28 GAA and .845 SV%.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):  Marner (DK $5.4K || FD $7.5K), Raymond (DK $3.9K || FD $5.4K)

NHL DFS Defensemen

Rasmus Dahlin - DK $7.6K || FD $9.0K

Opponent - Detroit Redwings

Rasmus Dahlin has the highest upside out of defensemen on this slate but is likely going to be too expensive for me in a cash-game scenario. That said, he averages 1.14 points per game with 3.52 shots per game and 1.9 blocked shots per game. Buffalo could score some goals here tonight and Dahlin could be in on a couple of them.

Adam Fox - DK $5.9K || FD $7.4K

Opponent - Ottawa Senators

Adam Fox feels too cheap on DraftKings. He averages 1.09 points per game, 2.09 shots per game, and 1.43 blocked shots per game.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Seider (DK $5.0K || FD $6.3K), Giordano (DK $3.8K || FD $4.4K)

NHL DFS Top Stacks

Here is a handful of stacks I like:

  • DET1/PP1: With Toronto implied for 4.3 goals and Edmonton for 3.9 goals, Detroit at 3.5 goals could be overlooked. They have the same number of implied goals as New York and are in a better spot in my opinion.
  • NYR2: If Chytil is Centering this line, this line all of a sudden is very inexpensive and a good value stack to consider.
  • BUF1 or BUF 2: Nedeljkovic is not exactly lights out with a 4.01 GAA and .880 SV%. Buffalo's top line is a good one to consider for a main stack as they could be virtually unowned. Buffalo 2 would be a great filler stack to put in alongside a premium main stack.
  • TOR1 or TOR2/EDM1 or EDM2: These are the obvious, chalky type of stacks tonight. Only including to cover bases here. I would favor Toronto above Edmonton just because they are at home and San Jose is playing the second game of a back-to-back. But any of these four stacks could have a great night and should always be considered in your GPP lineups.
