NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 10/17/22

We have a massive slate Monday with nine games after there were zero games on the schedule Sunday. After a day off Sunday for the entire NHL, there are several early-season matchups that will be interesting to follow throughout the night. I will do my best in navigating you through a busy Monday slate which starts at 7:00 PM EST.

Vegas Odds for the Day

NHL DFS Goalies

Jake Oettinger- DK $8.7K || FD $7.8K

Opponent - Winnipeg Jets

If Jake Oettinger starts Monday against the Winnipeg Jets he should be considered as an option to draft. He's allowed just two goals on 62 shots leading the Stars to their first two victories of the season. Dallas will host Winnipeg who had an impressive season opener knocking over the New York Rangers 4-1 at home. However, the Jets will have to shake some early-season rust as they haven't played since last Friday. While being productive defensively Dallas has also been successful on the offensive side of the puck netting nine goals in two games. Oettinger could benefit from his team's offensive surge which could lead to his third victory.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Tristan Jarry (DK $8.4K || FD $8.3K), Frederik Andersen (DK $8.2K || FD $8.3K)

NHL DFS Centers

Centers

 Sidney Crosby-DK $7.3K || FD $9.5K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Through two contests the Penguins have been scoring in bunches as they lead the NHL with 12 goals scored. Veteran centerman Sidney Crosby is no stranger to providing an abundant amount of offensive production throughout his career. He's already logged two goals and four assists in two games leading the league in points. Pittsburgh's first line is buzzing as they have combined for 11 points. Montreal has lost their lost two contests going into Monday.

Auston Matthews - DK $8.8K || FD $10.1K

Opponent - Arizona Coyotes

Despite having a $10.1K salary on FanDuel centerman Auston Matthews is always worth picking. He only has a goal and an assist in two contests but the Arizona native already has 17 shots on goal. Matthews will also have the opportunity to face off against the lowly Arizona Coyotes at home in Toronto. Arizona has allowed 12 goals in two games and has yet to win a contest. Matthews should be able to take advantage of a weak Coyotes defense.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Patrice Bergeron (DK $7K || FD $7K), Nathan MacKinnon (DK $7.5K || FD $9.8K)

NHL DFS Wings

Wings

David Pastrnak- DK $8.4K || FD $9.2K

Opponent - Florida Panthers

The winger has had an impressive start to his season recording four points in two Bruins games. He also leads his team in shots on goal with 11. He's benefited from playing alongside fellow Czech countrymen winger Pavel Zacha and veteran centerman David Krejci who have a combined for seven points amongst the two forwards.

Adrian Kempe - DK $5.3K || FD $5.5K

Opponent - Detroit Red Wings

Winger Adrian Kempe is a player that typically falls under the radar for Los Angeles. The sharp-shooting forward is coming off a 35-goal season. After two contests Kempe leads the Kings in goals with three and also has an assist. He netted two goals and added an assist in a 7-6 victory over Minnesota on Saturday. The Kings have a tough task Monday as they face off against Detroit as they are undefeated. Despite a tough Monday challenge for Los Angeles look for Kempe to continue to put up points as he was consistent all last season.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Mikko Rantanen (DK $7.1K || FD $9.4K), Alex Ovechkin (DK $8.0K || FD $9.4K)

NHL DFS Defensemen

Cale Makar- DK $7.2 || FD $7.9K

Opponent - Minnesota Wild

Anytime Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar steps on the ice there is a great chance he will provide a spark for his team. The Conn Smythe winner has logged two points in two games this season. Both of his points have come on the power play. He has six shots on goal while blocking three opponents' shots. Look for Makar to have a huge outing Monday as Colorado plays Minnesota. The Wild have been lit up in two straight games allowing 14 goals in the process.

Moritz Seider- DK $5.5K || FD $6.5K

Opponent - Los Angeles Kings

Seider is yet to collect any points for the Red Wings this season but he has been an important factor for the team so far. It is only a matter of time before the German native gets on the score sheet as he had 50 points in his rookie campaign last year. He is locking and loading shots from the point recording nine shots on goal in just two contests. He should have plenty of opportunities offensively tonight playing against the youthful Kings.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Kris Letang (DK $6.3K || FD $6.9K), Aaron Ekblad (DK $7.0K || FD $6.8K)
