BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 39% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The same as we chase backup rushers just in case, we can do so with players at any other position. Enter tight end Ricky Seals-Jones, current TE1 of the Washington Footies after Logan Thomas was forced out of Week 4 after playing just five offensive snaps. Thomas was a monster in 2020, and he kicked 2021 off with three straight top-13 finishes at the position (9.5+ PPR points every week), until he fell down. Then, Ricky happened.
Seals-Jones is a fourth-year player footballing in the Capital for the first time in his career after having stints with Arizona and Cleveland in which he never got to average more than 5.0 PPR points per game. Now a starter in D.C., Ricky has played 93% and 99% (!!!) of the team's offensive snaps in back-to-back weeks while scoring 3.9 and a much healthier TE13 9.1 PPR points this past weekend.
While Seals-Jones is far from Logan Thomas in terms of upside, he got a bulky 8 targets in Week 5 (second-most among Washington pass-catchers only behind Terry McLaurin), caught 5 of them, and put up 41 yards on the day against New Orleans. The numbers were far from great, and Ricky is just a stopgap in both real and fantasy football, but he looked good enough to have him rostered in most deep-format competitions until Logan Thomas is fully healthy and available to make a comeback.
