Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Friday, June 16, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.
Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.

PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Triston McKenzie more than 5.5 strikeouts
This looks like a tough spot for McKenzie, but strikeouts come plenty in the dome in Arizona. Just yesterday, Aaron Nola got touched up a bit but still managed to strike out nine across his 6 2/3 innings pitched. McKenzie has started well also as he has racked up 15 strikeouts across his first 10 innings pitched. The Diamondbacks are also posting a K rate north of 20% vs. righties over the previous two weeks, which should be enough for him to get over the hump here.
Shane McClanahan less than 6.0 strikeouts
This is a tad dicey given the stuff McClanahan has, however, the matchup is incredibly difficult against the Padres tonight. Over the previous two weeks, San Diego is posting the second-lowest K rate vs. lefties with a rate of just 14.2%. They are also posting a ridiculous wRC+ mark of 171 over that same span, which is also ranked second-best in the league. McClanahan has also failed to eclipse this total in each of his last two starts and in three of his previous six.
Michael Kopech more than 7.0 strikeouts
Kopech has been rolling lately as he has struck out seven or more in four of his previous five starts. He has a solid matchup out west against the Mariners in this one tonight as well. Over the previous two weeks, Seattle is posting the fifth-highest k rate vs. right-handers with a rate of 25%. They are also posting a sub-100 wRC+ over this span, which should help keep Kopech in the game.
Jared Shuster more than 4.0 strikeouts
Shuster has matched or eclipsed this total in just three of his seven starts on the season, but tonight's matchup is too hard to ignore vs. the Rockies. Over the previous two weeks, they have posted the third-highest k rate vs. left-handers with a rate of 31.5%. They have also struggled mightily at the plate at creating runs as noted by their 48 wRC+ mark, which also ranks third-worst in the league over that span. When you also add in their 3.8% walk rate over those two weeks, you have a great spot for Shuster to have his best outing of the season.
Other Recommendations: Kevin Gausman more than 7.0 strikeouts
