26 seconds agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton could be in line to make the start for his team in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks. Starting signal-caller Bryce Young (ankle) has not practiced all week due to an ankle injury and is "unlikely to play" on Sunday, according to the team. Dalton has been practicing with the first team this week and would draw a plus matchup against a Seattle defense that is allowing the 11th-most fantasy points per game to opposing QBs through the first two games. Dalton was serviceable for the New Orleans Saints in 2022, throwing for 2,871 yards, 18 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 14 games started. Dalton is on the radar as a QB3 in fantasy and is worth a speculative add for gamers who play in two-quarterback formats.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

3 mins agoNew York Giants running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) told NFL on Prime reporter Taylor Rooks that he's in fact dealing with a "high-ankle sprain" to his right ankle and that not playing on Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers was simply a pain-tolerance issue. The Giants don't play again until Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4, but if he's indeed dealing with a high-ankle sprain, there's a good chance he won't play in that game, either. We'll have a better idea of Barkley's status for Week 4 next week, but fantasy managers expecting him to only miss one game should check their expectations. In Barkley's absence, Matt Breida should be lead dog, but the G-Men could also go with a RB committee with Breida, Gary Brightwell and rookie Eric Gray.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL on Prime - Taylor Rooks

13 mins agoNew York Giants wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) is officially active on Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers and will be making his season debut after missing the first two games of the season. Robinson tore his ACL in Week 11 of his rookie campaign, but he's now returning to give an already crowded Giants receiving room some more depth. The 22-year-old could eventually have a bigger role this season, but for Thursday night, he's not a recommended fantasy flex play behind Parris Campbell in the slot. The G-Men also have Isaiah Hodgins, rookie Jalin Hyatt, Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard competing for targets. It's not a pretty fantasy situation as far as New York's pass-catchers go.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Giants.com

18 mins agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) is officially inactive for the Thursday night game against the New York Giants. Aiyuk suffered a shoulder injury in the Week 2 win over the Los Angeles Rams, but he avoided a broken collarbone after undergoing a CT scan on Monday. The good news is that this doesn't appear to be a long-term injury for Aiyuk, but the Niners aren't going to put him in harm's way on a short week early in the season. For now, fantasy managers should consider him questionable to play in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals. In his absence on Thursday night, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle should see more targets, while Jauan Jennings and rookie Ronnie Bell will compete for No. 3 duties in San Fran.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: 49ers.com - Lindsey Pallares

32 mins agoCarolina Panthers running back Miles Sanders heads into Week 3 looking for his first touchdown of the season after posting 115 scoreless rushing yards over two games. He will look to change that in Week 3's road matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle has been generous to opposing running backs in fantasy this season, allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to the position. Provided he is able to suit up and play through a pectoral injury that landed him on the injury report as questionable and held him to limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday, Sanders has a good shot at getting into the end zone in what sets up as a favorable matchup for him in Week 3. Treat him as a mid-range RB2 this weekend.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

41 mins agoCincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (calf) did not take part in practice on Thursday. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said that the team will take it "day-to-day" with Borrow after he aggravated a calf injury in the Week 2 loss that kept him out for all of training camp and the preseason, and Burrow himself said "we'll see" when asked if he'll play on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams. Burrow's calf injury and inactivity this summer is a big reason why Cincy's offense has gotten off to a slow start, and that may not chance for a while if he's forced to miss additional time. If you drafted the 26-year-old hoping he'd be your starter each and every week, you should already be searching for an insurance policy in Week 3, especially with the Bengals' game not coming until Monday this week. If Burrow misses Monday's game, Jake Browning would make the start under center.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - James Palmer

57 mins agoTennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) was listed as a limited practice participant on Thursday after he took part in a full practice on Wednesday. Hopkins didn't practice at all last week but still played in the Week 2 overtime win over the Los Angeles Chargers, playing only 60 percent of the offensive snaps while catching four passes for 40 yards. The 31-year-old veteran has been practicing this week and should be fine to take on more of a snap percentage this Sunday on the road in Cleveland against the Browns. The move from a full practice to a limited session on Thursday is likely to be for rest purposes. Fantasy managers that have been starting Hopkins through two weeks need to keep him in their lineups.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt

1 hour agoTennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (toe) missed practice on Thursday after he was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday. King Henry's absence from Thursday's practice was a combination of his toe injury and rest purposes, but fantasy managers shouldn't be worried at all that he's in danger of missing a Week 3 game against the Cleveland Browns. As long as the 29-year-old is back at practice on Friday, he should be a must-start in all fantasy lineups on Sunday. Through the first two games of 2023, Henry has 40 carries for 143 yards (3.6 yards per carry) and a touchdown, adding five catches on seven targets for 71 additional yards.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt

1 hour agoMiami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (ankle) returned to a full practice on Thursday after he was listed as limited on Wednesday. There should be no questions about whether Hill will suit up this Sunday in a Week 3 matchup at home against the Denver Broncos. The 29-year-old All-Pro pass-catcher is already a target hog in Miami's offense, but he could see even more looks this weekend if fellow wideout Jaylen Waddle isn't cleared from the league's concussion protocol. Through the first two games of 2023, Hill has lived up to his lofty fantasy draft value with 16 receptions, 255 yards and three touchdowns for the 2-0 Dolphins. He remains a no-doubt, must-start fantasy commodity.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: South Florida Sun-Sentinel - David Furones

1 hour agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (knee) missed another practice on Thursday. Ekeler suffered an ankle injury in the season opener and hasn't practiced since while also missing the Week 2 overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans. He says he's made some progress, but unless he's able to get back on the field in some capacity on Friday, he's likely to miss a second straight game this Sunday on the road against the Minnesota Vikings. Joshua Kelley disappointed as a plug-and-play fantasy option with Ekeler out last weekend, but he'd be worth another shot in fantasy lineups in Minnesota against a porous defense if Ekeler misses another game. Check back on Friday for Ekeler's final status for Sunday's game.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Athletic - Daniel Popper

1 hour agoDallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs (knee) suffered a torn ACL during practice on Thursday, an MRI exam confirmed, according to a source. Diggs will now miss the rest of the 2023 season. The Cowboys defense/special teams unit will still be a top play for the rest of the year, but losing Diggs is huge news going forward. The 26-year-old fourth-year defensive back had already forced two turnovers and had three passes defensed in the first two games of the season. With Diggs out the rest of the way, the Cowboys are prepared to move DaRon Bland to the outside across from corner Stephon Gilmore, with Jourdan Lewis now likely to operate at slot cornerback for the Cowboys.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

1 hour agoCleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford filled in nicely in Week 2 after his team lost Nick Chubb for the season due to a major knee injury. Ford found the end zone on a reception and set the team up for another score with a 69-yard run down to the Pittsburgh one-yard line. He will look to repeat that success in Week 3's home matchup against the Tennessee Titans, although he may have a hard time doing so against a stout run defense. The Titans can be beat through the air but they are allowing the second-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing running backs through the first two games of the season. Fantasy gamers who picked Ford up off of waivers are likely anxious to insert him into their starting lineups but he is best left on the bench until a better matchup presents itself.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com

1 hour agoCarolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young (ankle) missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday and is not expected to play in Week 3 on Sunday on the road against the Seattle Seahawks. Veteran Andy Dalton took first-team repetitions at practice on Thursday for the second day in a row with Young hurting, and he's now set for his first start of the season. It's doesn't sound like a particularly serious injury for the first overall pick of this year's draft, but the Panthers don't want to jeopardize his development by throwing him out there on an injured ankle. In a hostile environment, look for Carolina to lean on their ground game as much as possible with Dalton under center, which is good news for running backs Miles Sanders and Chuba Hubbard. Dalton will be a low-end QB2 option for those desperate in superflex leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Panthers Twitter

2 hours agoCleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson struggled in a 26-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2, throwing a pick-six and losing a fumble that was returned 17 yards for a touchdown. He will look to bounce back at home against the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. Watson has a few things going for him this week as the Titans have been stout against the run but struggle to defend the pass. The Browns could use that, plus the fact that they lost Nick Chubb for the season, to dial up more passing plays for Watson and his receivers. Watson has not played well since taking over as QB for the Browns last season but he has enough working in his favor to treat as a high-end QB2 in fantasy for Week 3.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: NFL.com
