2 weeks agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. hauled in three receptions for 33 yards on five targets in an impressive win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2. The veteran wideout led the Jaguars in receiving a season ago, but Jacksonville added Christian Kirk and Zay Jones to the receiver room, along with the return of Travis Etienne Jr. Given the additions to the offense, the former fifth-round pick has now been given a decreased role in the passing game with seven receptions and 71 yards on 11 targets in the first two weeks combined. Unless an injury occurs to one of the other wide receivers on the roster, Jones shouldn't be started in fantasy football this season.--Skyler Carlin - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

1 month agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. notched three receptions for 40 receiving yards on four targets in Saturday's 16-15 preseason loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The veteran wide receiver played the entire first half with the rest of the offensive starters on Saturday night. In three-wide-receiver sets, the Jaguars had Jones, Christian Kirk, and Zay Jones available for Trevor Lawrence to target. The 32-year-old wideout hauled in 73 catches, 832 receiving yards, and four touchdowns in his debut season with the Jaguars in 2021. Even with more competition at his respective position, Jones shouldn't be forgotten in the later rounds in a Jacksonville offense that should show vast improvements during the 2022 campaign.--Skyler Carlin - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

9 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a dicey WR4 play against the Patriots in Week 17. On one hand, Jones has gone over 70 receiving yards with six or more catches in two of his last three games, but on the other hand, his matchup is a near worst-case scenario and he hasn't caught a touchdown pass since Week 6. Notably, New England has allowed the NFL's fourth-fewest PPR points to opposing wideouts this season, and Bill Belichick is known for taking away the opponent's No. 1 receiver. Overall, Jones is a decent Week 17 play, but his volatility and lack of ceiling keep him in the WR4 range against a tough matchup.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com

9 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. caught eight of 13 targets for 74 yards in the team's 26-21 Week 16 road loss to the Jets. In a prime matchup with teammate Laviska Shenault Jr. (Covid list) out, it was unsurprising but welcome to see the veteran dominate targets in a trailing game script while setting a season high in receptions. Shenault's status is up in the air going forward, but either way, fantasy managers should be cautiously valuing Jones as just a middling WR4 the rest of the way due to his difficult remaining schedule.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com

9 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a solid WR4 option on the road against the Jets in Week 16. Jones has been up and down as of late and his ceiling has been disappointing, but there are reasons to believe that he can succeed this week. The veteran faces off against a Jets team that has held opposing wideouts to the seventh-fewest PPR points in 2021, but that ranking is very misleading due to a soft schedule against the position and a severe lack of passing attempts against them. Additionally, Jones' already strong target projection looks even stronger with Laviska Shenault Jr. (Covid list) likely to miss Week 16's game. Bottom line, fantasy managers looking for a solid but unspectacular wide receiver option should feel comfortable starting Jones this week.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
Share:
10 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a decent WR4 play against the Texans in Week 15. Jones broke out of a prolonged slump last week with a 70-yard performance, and his outlook can only improve with his former incompetent head coach Urban Meyer out of the way. The veteran's matchup against the Texans appears middling on the surface, but Houston's middle-of-the-pack status against receivers is primarily the result of the defense facing little pass volume in blowouts. Overall, Jones is a safe bet for six-plus targets in a friendly matchup, so he makes for a solid WR4 play this week.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
Share:
10 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. caught six of seven targets for 70 yards in the team's 20-0 shutout loss to the Titans in Week 14. It was the first time that Jones recorded at least six catches and 70-plus receiving yards since Week 6, and it was just his second time clearing 50 receiving yards in his last seven games. The extremely friendly matchup certainly played a part, as did the negative game script, but it was good to see the veteran get back on track regardless. Jones should be viewed as a middling WR4 going forward.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
Share:
10 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a decent WR4 play against Tennessee in Week 14. To say that Jones has struggled recently would be an understatement. The veteran hasn't scored more than 9.2 PPR points in a game since Week 6, and he's been held under six PPR points three times in his last six games. Fantasy managers should at least consider Jones this week, however, as he's facing off against a Titans team allowing the most fantasy points in the NFL to opposing wideouts this season. Overall, Jones isn't an ideal fantasy option in Week 14, but his matchup is so friendly that he warrants WR4 consideration regardless.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
Share:
10 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. caught just two of three targets for 11 yards in a losing effort against the Rams in Week 13. Jones has been struggling for some time now, but this was by far his worst game of the season. Jones was fifth on the team in targets despite being the perceived No. 1 option on the outside, and it's fair to wonder if his days as an effective NFL wide receiver are over at almost 32 years of age. Poor coaching, quarterback play, and the offense's inability to sustain drives are all factors as well, and everything has culminated into the veteran averaging just 33 receiving yards per contest over the last six weeks. Jones should be viewed as just a low ceiling WR5 option at this point, though there is some hope for more due to the team's very soft upcoming schedule.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
Share:
10 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a decent, but uninspiring WR4 option against the Rams in Week 13. Jones has seen at least six targets in five of his last six games, but he's only surpassed four catches once in that period of time while failing to clear 52 yards in all but one game. Jones' athleticism may be declining at nearly 32 years of age, but the bigger issue is poor coaching and quarterback play in Jacksonville, as the Jaguars rank in the bottom 10 in virtually every offensive metric. Jones' matchup isn't imposing this week against a Rams defense allowing the 12th-most PPR points to opposing wideouts, but the other factors holding him back render him just a middling WR4 play for Week 13.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
Share:
10 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. caught four of seven targets for 43 yards in the team's Week 12 loss to the Falcons. It's the same old story for Jones, as he continues to see a respectable amount of targets without much to show for it. The veteran's athleticism is declining and he's also been a victim of up and down quarterback play, poor play calling, and his offense's inability to move the ball all season long. Jones' fantasy floor and ceiling have suffered as a result, and, at this point, he's just a middling WR4. Excluding very deep formats, fantasy managers should look elsewhere for more consistency and ceiling at the wide receiver position going forward.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
Share:
10 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a solid high-end WR4 play against the Falcons in Week 12. After failing to surpass 35 yards receiving in Weeks 6-9, Jones got back on track with a decent 4/52/0 line against the 49ers last week. Additionally, the Falcons don't present an intimidating matchup, as they've allowed the 15th-most PPR points to opposing wideout's in 2021. Overall, the veteran should command at least six targets in a game where Jacksonville's touchdown equity is higher than usual, so he's a solid start in all formats.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
Share:
11 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. caught four of six targets for 52 yards in the team's 30-10 blowout loss to the 49ers in Week 11. Jones didn't have a standout game by any means, but it was good to see him lead the team in receiving nonetheless, as he had cleared 35 yards just once in his last six games coming into this week. The Jaguars offense has struggled to move the ball for the most part in 2021 and as a result, the veteran wideout's fantasy ceiling has taken a big hit. Going forward, Jones should be considered a mediocre WR4 option handicapped by a poor offensive environment.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
Share:
11 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a volatile WR4 option against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11. Jones was expected to provide consistent production this season, especially after D.J. Chark Jr. (ankle) suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 4, but that hasn't been the case. The veteran has cleared 35 receiving yards just once in his last six outings despite racking up a decent amount of targets, and his low catch rate as of late indicates that his rapport with Trevor Lawrence is far from ideal. The target projection is still fairly strong, but the matchup against a 49ers team that has allowed the 10th fewest PPR points to opposing wideouts in 2021 is not. Ideally, Jones is more of a flex option than anything else in Week 11.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
Share:
11 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. produced just two catches for 35 yards in the team's Week 10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Jones has now been held to 35 yards or less in five of his last six games, and his rapport with Trevor Lawrence has vanished as the season has progressed. The veteran was targeted six times in this game, and he's seen similar target totals throughout this slump while posting very poor catch rates. At this point, Jones can no longer be considered a WR3. Despite seemingly possessing a prime role within Jacksonville's offense, Jones is a middling WR4 going forward.--Casey KamholzSource: ESPN.com
