Yuli Gurriel Posting Only .675 OPS This Season
6 years agoHouston Astros infielder Yuli Gurriel will start and hit cleanup Saturday against the Orioles. Gurriel has been struggling at the plate lately and is slashing an abysmal .234/.239/.328 over his last 64 at-bats. Gurriel has been a vital asset for the Astros recently, playing multiple positions while the team juggles injuries to key players like Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve and George Springer. But the position changes might possibly be affecting him at the plate as his on-base percentage for the season has sunk to .288. He also has failed to capitalize on being bumped up to the middle of the order and is hitting only .226 this season with runners in scoring position. There are better options out there right now than the struggling Gurriel.
