Yu Darvish Unlikely To Be Traded
4 years agoChicago Cubs ace Yu Darvish's name is out there in trade talks this winter, but it might just be an example of a willingness for the Cubs to consider anything. The runner-up in the National League Cy Young voting, Darvish's chances of getting traded are "very low," according to one executive. The Japanese right-hander had an excellent finish to the 2019 season and carried it over into the shortened 2020 campaign, falling short to Reds right-hander Trevor Bauer for the NL's Cy Young. He was 8-3 with a 2.01 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 93 strikeouts in 76 innings pitched over 12 starts for the Cubbies. If Chicago does move Darvish, the Padres could be a good fit because of their wealth of prospects. The Friars also won't have Mike Clevinger (elbow) in 2021 after he underwent Tommy John surgery.
