Yoan Moncada Forced From Sunday's Contest
6 years agoChicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada (back) left Sunday's game against the New York Yankees with upper back tightness. Moncada was 0-for-1 with a walk before exiting the game and was replaced by Jose Rondon. Moncada is somewhat quietly having a breakout season, slashing .295/.348/.506 with 12 homers, 39 RBI, and 38 runs scored. His 76/19 K/BB rate and 27.7% strikeout rate are still way too high, but otherwise, his production has been very encouraging. This back injury held him out of the previous four games, so while he is listed as day-to-day for now, a trip to the injured list is a possibility. Look for an update following today's game or on Monday.
