Toronto Blue Jays infielder Yangervis Solarte has been nothing short of a pleasant fantasy surprise in 2018. Prior to Wednesday, though, he seemed to be entering a bit of a cold streak that saw him pick up only one hit in his last four games. He may have broken out of that mini-slump against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, though, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. While some thought playing time could be an issue for Solarte with third baseman Josh Donaldson back in the lineup, Solarte has simply slid to his left as the team’s everyday second baseman with Devon Travis out with an injury (as usual). Given how badly Travis was playing before, though, one would think there’s a good chance the job will be Solarte’s until he gives Toronto a reason to take it away.--John Smith
