Will Warren Back In The Big Leagues
4 months agoThe New York Yankees recalled right-handed pitching prospect Will Warren from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday and placed right-hander Luis Gil (back) on the 15-day injured list with a lower-back strain in a corresponding move. Even though Warren, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has an 8.59 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in his first three major-league starts this year, he's worth a look for rotation depth in deep mixed leagues now that he's back in the majors and likely to take Gil's spot in New York's starting rotation. The 25-year-old former eighth-round pick in 2021 out of Southeastern Louisiana allowed 14 runs on 19 hits (three homers) while walking five and striking out 17 in 14 2/3 innings in his three starts against the Phillies, Angels and White Sox. In the long run, Warren profiles as a back-end starter in the Bronx.
