7 months agoSan Diego Padres infielder Ty France has been getting reps at second base while putting on an offensive showcase in Triple-A El Paso. Before smashing a pair of homers on Sunday, France was slashing .431/.500/.847 with seven dingers and 47 runs-plus-RBI in 84 plate appearances. Although not in the team’s top 30 prospects, the 24-year-old was positioned to contend for the Friars third base job in spring training before the signing of star third baseman Manny Machado. Currently receiving starts at the keystone, a call-up for France is conceivable given the severe struggles of second baseman Ian Kinsler (.154 average, -6.9 offensive WAR). While his next big league plate appearance will be his first, France is someone to monitor down on the farm.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
