The Houston Astros selected Vanderbilt pitcher Ty Brown with the 101st overall pick in the third round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Houston wrapped up their draft by taking Tennessee outfielder Zach Daniels in the fourth round (131st overall) and UC San Diego shortstop Shay Whitcomb in the fifth round with the final pick in the draft. Brown has faced extreme adversity at a young age and set a school record with 17 saves in 2019. He tops out at 96 mph with an 83-86 slider, mid-70s curve and low-80s changeup. Brown could get a chance to start in pro ball. Daniels was Baseball America's No. 17 overall SEC prospect and hit .357/.478/.750 this spring before the season was shut down. Whitcomb's bat is his calling card, as he hit .314 with 11 home runs and 42 RBI in 2019.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
