Tua Tagovailoa 2026 Fantasy Football Outlook: Little More Than a Potential Streamer to Begin the Year
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has seen his fantasy value drop year after year since throwing for 4,620 yards and 29 touchdowns on his way to a QB9 finish in 2023. After two down years and his eventual release from the Dolphins, Tagovailoa heads into his first season with the Falcons as RotoBaller's QB31. 2024 first-round pick Michael Penix Jr. tore his ACL in Week 11 of the 2025 season, potentially giving Tagovailoa the inside track to starter's reps to begin the year. However, with Penix already into his third professional season, this marks the last chance the team has to evaluate him before deciding whether to pick up his fifth-year option ahead of the 2027 season, meaning they'll likely want him back on the field as soon as he's ready. Outside of deep superflex leagues, Tagovailoa is unlikely to be drafted in 2026, but should Penix's recovery timeline put him on track to miss time early or even begin the year on the Physically Unable to Perform List, the Falcons' opening slate of the schedule is at least worth monitoring. With an improved supporting cast of Drake London, Bijan Robinson, and Kyle Pitts, a healthy, starting Tagovailoa is still capable of providing relevance as a streamer in plus-matchups.
