Teddy Bridgewater 2021 Outlook: Bridgewater Starts Over Drew Lock
3 years agoTeddy Bridgewater only cost the Denver Broncos a sixth-round pick to acquire this past offseason. The key in the preseason for Bridgewater was that he simply kept the Denver offense on pace better than Drew Lock. Bridgewater saved his best as he threw a touchdown in the game against the Seattle Seahawks. Bridgewater moved the Denver offense down the field with efficiency as he completed 9 of 11 passes for 105 yards as well. Bridgewater followed that up with six more completions and a touchdown in a 17-12 win over the Los Angeles Rams. While his QB ranking this year is around QB32/33, Bridgewater will at least benefit from the fifth-easiest schedule in the NFL. The starting quarterback in Denver will inherit one of the best-supporting casts outside of Kansas City, Buffalo, or Baltimore in the AFC. Bridgewater could really surprise with this offense. He expects to take this offense and try to run with it as best as he can. The expectation is that the new starter will manage the game better and be selective with taking shots down the field. It is what he excelled at in Carolina and maybe just what the Denver Broncos need in 2021. Fewer mistakes and about the same amount of big plays are projected. If Bridgewater can throw over 3,500 yards, possibly he can exceed his career-high of 15 touchdowns. The final thing is this. Bridgewater can occasionally scramble. He ran 53 times for 279 yards last year and gained several key first downs. Add in those five rushing touchdowns and Bridgewater can be a viable streaming option some weeks.
