Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos hit his 11th career hat trick and became the 47th player in NHL history with 500 goals as the team beat Vancouver 5-2 Wednesday night. Following Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby, Stamkos is only the third active player with half a thousand goals for his career. The Lightning captain also set a new franchise record by reaching his 13th 20-goal campaign. Stamkos is trying to post his second consecutive 100-point season and has greatly boosted his chances with a run of 11 points in eight January appearances. Dating back to Nov. 11, Stamkos has been kept scoreless just three times, and the superb run of form has helped the star forward to rack up 21 goals and 31 assists for the season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
