Spencer Steer Returns To Lineup Thursday
2 years agoCincinnati Reds third baseman Spencer Steer will return to the lineup Thursday after dealing with a knee/quadriceps issue over the last few days. The 25-year-old will be a welcomed addition to the Reds' lineup as he's off to a hot start this season. Steer is hitting .320 with two homers, one steal, and a .944 OPS across 59 trips to the plate. It's a marked improvement over his big-league debut from last season in which he scuffled to a .211 average with two homers and a .632 OPS across 28 games in his age-24 season. He does have a lengthy history of hitting for power in the minor leagues and could be a solid source of home runs while playing his home games at the hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. He'll take on a fellow youngster in Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Roansy Contreras Thursday night.
