Shohei Ohtani To Continue To Hit For Angels
1 year agoLos Angeles Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (elbow) will travel with the Angels to New York this weekend, and it looks like he'll continue to play as the designated hitter while he decides the next course of action with the UCL tear in his right elbow. Late last night, the Angels announced that Ohtani will not pitch again in 2023 due to his UCL tear, but it remains to be seen if he'll undergo Tommy John surgery for the second time on his right elbow. Fantasy managers that have Ohtani the pitcher rostered can drop him in single-year leagues, but he should still be useful as a hitter as long he continues to DH. The 29-year-old Japanese All-Star currently leads the league with 44 home runs, 97 runs scored, seven triples, 78 walks, a .664 slugging percentage, a 1.069 OPS, 310 total bases and 16 intentional walks in 126 games.
