Seahawks Excited About Ed Dickson
7 years agoSeattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll praised new tight end Ed Dickson's ability downfield as a pass catcher, even though Dickson has notoriously been known more for his blocking skills in his NFL career. "Ed is a good all-around blocker but he's a downfield catcher as well. He's a really good athlete. We've know him since he was a high school kid. Really fired up to get him to fit in. He's kind of been overshadowed with [Greg] Olsen there at the Panthers, but he's always been a productive football player and a really good all-around ballplayer," Carroll said. Dickson is entering his age-31 campaign and has never caught more than 54 passes in a season (his second year in 2011) or accumulated more than 528 yards or five touchdowns in a single year. While he's currently the team's best pass-catching weapon at tight end, Seattle could look to add help in the draft. Dickson could have games here and there where he produces decent numbers, but he shouldn't be looked at as anything more than a fantasy backup.
