Sawyer Gipson-Long Pulled Off Rehab Assignment
Sawyer Gipson-Long (neck) has been pulled off his rehab assignment because of ongoing neck issues and "general fatigue," Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Gipson-Long, on the 15-day injured list with neck stiffness since July 2, had an ugly rehab start with Triple-A Toledo last Friday. The 27-year-old yielded seven runs on nine hits and two walks over 3 2/3 innings. He complained of fatigue afterward, which led the Tigers to hit pause on his rehab. Gipson-Long could throw a bullpen session in the coming days and then restart a rehab assignment, according to Petzold. The former sixth-round pick has pitched 23 innings in the bigs this year and logged a 4.70 ERA with 18 strikeouts and four walks.
