Samuel Basallo Clubs Two Homers on Thursday
Samuel Basallo went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Triple-A St. Paul. Basallo crushed a two-strike changeup 438 feet in the fourth inning and followed it up with another homer in the seventh. The 20-year-old is scorching in May, with a slash line of .291/.400/.709 in 55 ABs. He's posted great exit velocity metrics with a 115.9 MPH MaxEV and 53.8% hard hit rate on the season. Combined with a strikeout rate in the low 20 percent range and a double-digit walk rate, it's clear why he is one of the best prospects in baseball. Basallo should be expected to make his debut sometime this summer and would be a priority add.
