Ryan O'Hearn Designated For Assignment
2 years agoThe Kansas City Royals designated infielder Ryan O'Hearn for assignment on Wednesday to make room on the 40-man roster for right-hander Jordan Lyles, who recently signed a two-year deal with the club. The left-handed-hitting O'Hearn was underwhelming again in 2022 in his fifth big-league season with the team, slashing just .239/.290/.321 with a .611 OPS, one home run, 16 RBI, 14 runs scored and 35 strikeouts in 145 plate appearances over 67 games played. The 29-year-old was a bench player for the rebuilding Royals and will now be looking to latch on with another team. O'Hearn holds a career .219/.293/.390 slash line with a .683 OPS, 38 home runs and 131 RBI in 342 major-league games with KC.
