Ryan Newman is back behind the wheel of a NASCAR stock car this weekend for the first time since he stepped away from the sport following the 2021 season. He will be filling in for a few races this year in the #15 Ford for Rick Ware Racing starting with the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday. Newman has a respectable history here at Darlington, with an average finish of 12.8 and 14 top 10 results in 26 career starts. However, it will be very surprising if "The Rocketman" is able to replicate that this weekend. Newman was 34th-fastest out of 36 cars in practice on Saturday morning and will start from 26th in Sunday's race. A finish better than 26th would have to feel like a major accomplishment for him and this team.--Jordan McAbee
