At a fantasy position that produces next-to-nothing, Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin may be a beacon of hope to those attempting to find something halfway decent. Martin crushed one over the fence on Thursday for his fifth home run of the year. It was his second jack in the last five games, and his third in the last seven. Martin is slashing a meager .151/.277/.360 with 12 runs scored and 11 RBI, but keep in mind how slow he started in 2017 as well before catching fire in mid-late May. No, Martin is not going to be a savior at the barren position of catcher, but there’s a decent chance he’ll provide more production than your other options. He’s currently tied for third among all catcher in home runs, fifth in runs scored, and 10th in RBI. He’s worth a look.--John Smith
