4 years agoThe Kansas City Royals have shown interest in free-agent starting pitcher Adam Wainwright, but they don't appear to be front-runners to sign him, according to sources. Wainwright played for Royals manager Mike Matheny in St. Louis from 2012-18. Kansas City has already signed Mike Minor, Carlos Santana, Greg Holland and Michael A. Taylor this offseason. The 39-year-old Wainwright has pitched 15 seasons in the majors, all with the Cardinals, going 167-98 with a 3.38 ERA and finishing in the top three in the National League Cy Young voting four times. Wainwright had a 4.58 ERA in 95 starts from 2016-19, but he posted a 3.15 ERA over his 10 starts in 2020 and can still be an effective fantasy streamer in the right matchups.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
