Roman Wilson 2024 Outlook: Expected to be the Team's Starting Slot WR Immediately
7 months agoMany were surprised during the 2024 NFL Draft when Michigan WR Roman Wilson slipped to the Third Round (No. 84 overall), but he landed in a good spot with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who know a thing or two about drafting WRs on Day 2 of the draft. After WR Diontae Johnson was traded to Carolina, a huge void opened up in the Steelers pass-catching corps alongside WR George Pickens. While there are still some questions about Pittsburgh's QB situation, they've given themselves options with veteran QB Russell Wilson and QB Justin Fields. Wilson had just 40 receptions for 648 yards and 11 TDs in 2023 at Michigan, but he was in a very run-heavy offense that didn't need to pass the ball much en route to winning the national championship. Wilson is a very polished, versatile receiver with the potential to make waves as a rookie as long as the Steelers don't revert to a slow pace of play on offense under OC Arthur Smith.
