Johnathan Kovacevic To Have Knee Surgery
New Jersey Devils defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic is dealing with a knee injury that will likely require surgery. He missed the last two games of the team's 4-1 first-round loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. "I'll be out for a decent amount of time," Kovacevic said during his exit interview on Thursday. "I don't anticipate I'll be ready for the start of next year either." Kovacevic had his first season with the Devils after being traded by the Montreal Canadiens. He finished the year with several career highs, recording 17 points (one goal, 16 assists), 99 blocks, and 102 hits in 81 games. The 27-year-old, who was a pending unrestricted free agent, inked a five-year, $20 million extension with the Devils in March.
