Ricky Tiedemann Notches Two Strikeouts In Spring Debut
9 months agoToronto Blue Jays pitcher Ricky Tiedemann (hamstring) struck out two batters while giving up one run on two hits in 1 1/3 IP in his spring debut against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. The Blue Jays lefty missed time this spring due to a minor hamstring and calf issue but has been working his way up. According to MLB Pipeline, the No. 29 overall prospect could make his major league debut earlier than anticipated with injuries to two of Toronto's key rotation pieces, Kevin Gausman (shoulder) and Alek Manoah (shoulder). Tiedemann racked up 58 Ks in 32 IP in Double-A for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, where he spent most of his time in the minors in 2023. He also dealt with control issues with a 13.7% BB%. That will need to come down if Tiedemann is to make Toronto's rotation in 2024.
