Rams Finalizing Contract With Brett Maher
1 year agoThe Los Angeles Rams are finalizing an undisclosed contract with veteran kicker Brett Maher on Wednesday, according to a source. The Rams will go with Maher after releasing Tanner Brown on roster cutdown day on Tuesday. The 33-year-old Maher was with the Denver Broncos during training camp and the preseason, but they traded for Wil Lutz on Tuesday and decided to go in another direction. The Rams will probably have a short leash on Maher to open the season, but he appears to be their starter now. He made a career-high 90.6 percent of his 32 field-goal attempts last year for the Dallas Cowboys and also missed just three of his league-high 53 extra-point tries in 17 games. Maher is a career 81% kicker in four NFL seasons and has a strong leg, but fantasy managers should be able to find better options to begin the 2023 campaign at the position.
