Pyotr Kochetkov Posts First Career Shutout
2 years agoCarolina Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov recorded his first career shutout on Monday against Chicago, finishing a 3-0 win with 27 saves. He became the third goalie in franchise history to register a shutout before his 24th birthday. The 23-year-old Kochetkov was playing in only his fifth career game. This was his second appearance of the season, with Frederik Andersen (undisclosed) having dropped out of the lineup. Antti Raanta has earned a pair of starts as well lately, but he hasn't found his way to the win column. It will be interesting to see who gets the nod for Thursday's clash with Colorado. Kochetkov hasn't put a foot wrong this season and boasts a 1.00 goals-against average with a .959 save percentage.
