10 months agoThe New York Mets are leaning toward not calling up first base prospect Peter Alonso when rosters expand in September, according to a source. There might be a logjam at first base soon with Wilmer Flores, Jay Bruce and Dominic Smith, and the Mets don't have to place Alonso on the 40-man roster until after the 2019 season. Alonso has become much more attractive than Smith in dynasty/keeper leagues while hitting .286 with 28 home runs and 101 RBI in 109 games between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas this year. If he doesn't come up at the end of this year, we'll surely see him in the bigs in 2019.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
