Patrick Mahomes Won't Play Against Chargers
4 years agoKansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that quarterback Patrick Mahomes will not play in Week 17 against the Chargers. The Chiefs have already locked up the top seed in the AFC postseason and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, so they will rest most of their starters in a meaningless Week 17 game. This is exactly why most fantasy leagues wrap up in Week 16. With Mahomes inactive on Sunday, veteran Chad Henne will get the start under center against Los Angeles. Because pass-catchers like Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce will also likely be rested for this one, Henne should be avoided for fantasy purposes on Sunday. Henne has attempted just six passes in two games this year and hasn't started an NFL game since 2014 when he was with the Jaguars.
